A Perfect Baked Potato - (101 Cookbooks) - The only technique you really need. Start here. I posted this recipe nearly a decade ago, and have used this technique to bake potatoes, yams, and sweet potatoes ever since. I'm not a fan of the foil method (unless camping), and this works brilliantly. Get the recipe here.
Baked Potato Bar Ideas
These are some of the baked potato toppings we’ve enjoyed over the years. And then toppings from other site that are fantastic below these.
- compound butter - the lemon miso & scallion-dill compound butters are particularly good on baked potatoes.
- chili / vegetarian chili - a classic combination to make a meal of your potato.
- grated (or crumbled) cheese: cheddar, gruyere, goat cheese
- serrano vinegar (thinly slice a couple serrano chile peppers, and cover with white vinegar)
- za’atar & labneh
- toasted pumpkin seeds
- homemade spice blends - I love the mandarin marjoram salt on baked potatoes. As well as the toasted coconut pepper.
- shredded egg salad - and then shower the whole situation with fresh herbs.
- this salsa, along with a generous swirl of sour cream or creme fraiche.
- pesto
- a drizzle of ghee over the potato along with chana masala makes a great lunch.
- baked mushrooms
- crushed kale chips
- can't go wrong with chili crisp
- scallions, chives, chopped herbs
- homemade bread crumbs sautéed in a splash of olive oil with chopped garlic.
